Stage 1 - Desktop Study

In accordance with CIRIA this is conducted at the earliest stage of project development as the first step in any proactive seabed risk management.

Using historical research data we are able to place your seabed site in its military context and analyse the impacts of allied and enemy action. We will then provide a tailored UXO report, complete with actionable recommendations, aligning with the project’s goals.

A current and relevant Threat and Risk Assessment (Desktop Study) is key to the successful mitigation of UXO risk. EODEX can, in collaboration with trusted suppliers, provide and review this with the client to understand how the UXO threat may impact upon potential projects.

  • Satellite imagery
  • Historic mapping
  • Aerial photography
  • Historical resources
  • Archived material
  • Specialist publications
  • First World War UK bombing data
  • Second World War UK bombing data

Using the information from the Desktop Study, the risk mitigation strategy will lead to recommendations and suggested survey parameters to reduce the UXO risk to a previously agreed level, ensuring that only necessary and practicable levels of survey and subsequent potential UXO (pUXO) target investigation and/or removal occurs.
